Purpose of Our Association
TAP’s core purpose is to advance scientific understanding of mental illnesses and to facilitate the communication and collaboration between convergent disciplines such as pre-clinical, clinical, and pharmaceutical industry in the field of psychopharmacology. To achieve this goal, The TAP arranges scientific meetings, fosters research and teaching, encourages publication of primary data research and provides guidance and information to the public on matters relevant to psychopharmacology. The TAP organizes scientific meetings and symposia during the course of the year from basic research to pharmaceutical development and clinical application. In recent years, the TAP has begun to produce a range of consensual statements on the treatment of clinical disorders as well as the investigation of psychopharmaceutical compounds.
Among the other objectives of the TAP are; professional improvement of psychiatrists, neurologists, basic scientists (physiologists, pharmacologists, geneticists, etc.) who share a common interest in psychopharmacology, to establish the standards of psychopharmacology education (of medical school students, psychiatry residents, and other residents) and to operate at the highest level in the conduct of this training, and also to represent the psychopharmacology field in the commissions held by the Ministry of Health and Turkish Medical Association and to share expert opinion in such meetings.
The TAP encourages the primary data research in the field of psychiatry and psychopharmacology, funds researchers, ensures the quality of the research and disseminates relevant advances in the field with its publications. The TAP is committed to provide the best information available to mental health professionals, as well as to patients and patient representative groups
The TAP is committed to open dialogues with other scientific associations, foundations, unions, and also non-governmental organizations to establish a common platform in psychopharmacology and related fields.
